Two months have passed and the inaugural Get Fit Clovis challenge is a third of the way over. In the month of July we have met many new friends, gained invaluable education from our knowledgeable speakers and have even joined the nation in National Dance Day.
The last meet in July was held at Doc’s Gym, located on Herndon and Minnewawa Avenues in Clovis. The chiropractic rehabilitation-style gym, owned by Dr. Joe Martin, a former Navy Seal and current chiropractic practitioner, made home to the G.F.C. team on National Dance Day, July 30.
Launched in 2010 by the “So You Think You Can Dance” co-creator and Dizzy Feet Foundation co-president Nigel Lythgoe, National Dance Day is an annual celebration that takes place on the last Saturday in July. The campaign aims to encourage Americans to embrace dance as a fun and positive way to maintain good health and fight obesity.
Lead by dance coach A.J. Laquesta, the participants were taught a short choreography. After a few tries, the team caught on and were able to hit all the right moves.
Video of the G.F.C. team dancing to the official National Dance Day choreography will be posted on the G.F.C. website early August.
